The Magnificent Machines are the life’s work of the Victorian eccentric Lord Robert of Brockenhurst. He was a man ahead of his time (or so he thought). He spent most of his family fortune making machines and gadgets for the modern Victorian lady and gentleman. They were all rather ingenious but, unfortunately, very few of them actually worked. Found in the Brockenhurst archive, the Magnificent Marble Machine is one of these very contraptions. This is but a mere cardboard representation of Lord Robert’s marble factory but the notes on the plan suggests that this would be the ‘best marble factory ever!’ We don’tknow if Lord Robert actually made the machine but it’s highly unlikely it would have worked if he did.
