What happens when I order a book?
The website is managed from the shop and as such all queries and orders are dealt with during trading hours. The store is open Monday – Friday (0930-1800) and Saturday (1100-1800). We are closed Sundays and public holidays. Any orders received out of trading hours will be dealt with and, if necessary, directly responded to, the following working day.
When the order is processed by the shop another acknowledgement will be sent. If there are any issues specific to the order the customer will be contacted directly by the shop, via email.
When an order is completed and books are dispatched a dispatch confirmation shall be emailed. The Return Period commences from this date.
If a book is on the website is it available in the shop?
While every effort is made to ensure books available online are stocked in the shop, we will occasionally sell out of a title and need to reorder for the shop. Should we be out of stock of a title we will contact the customer once we have acknowledged the order.
Payment for books and postage is taken only at point of dispatch. If a title is unavailable payment will not be taken until the item is ready. Books that are reprinting may be unavailable for some time. In such instances we may request payment in advance to secure the order. These are back orders.
Products include VAT where applicable. Books sold in the UK are zero-rated.
In each instance of a back order we will communicate directly with the customer. For those titles that are back-ordered on a long term basis payment may be required before the book is available to dispatch; in such instances permission shall be sought directly with the customer. The Return Period will commence upon notification of dispatch of the item.
All products to be refunded must be returned in the condition in which they were originally supplied.
All purchased items can be returned within the Return Period, which is 30 days from dispatch notification. Requests for return must be made in writing within that 30 day period. Products are returned to the shop at the customer’s cost.
Any item received damaged can be returned if unsatisfactory. Damages do not include manufacturing or production defects. Any claim for a damaged item must be made in writing within 10 days of dispatch notification. Such claims must include details of the damage to the item.
If a product is suffering from a manufacturing or production defect it can be returned as per the usual return procedures. Such defects are not subject to the Return Period. A request for return must be made in writing, with the nature of the defect stated. Upon return of the product we will examine it and, where possible, refund cost of delivery for return in addition to refund of the product.
All refunds shall be made as soon as possible upon receipt of returned products, or within 30 days of receipt.
All refunds will be via the means of payment.
For delivery purposes the UK consists of the England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Orders are dispatched via Royal Mail and should arrive within 1-3 working days of dispatch for UK Mainland.
Some orders may be sent out via courier. In such instances we shall provide tracking information. They will arrive within 1-3 working days of dispatch.
International Delivery (Europe & Rest of World)
Europe is defined as: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway (including Svalbard & Jan Mayen), Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vatican.
World Zone 2 is defined as: Australia, Belau, British Indian Ocean Territory, Christmas Island (Indian Ocean), Christmas Island (Pacific Ocean), Cocos Islands, Cook Island, Coral Sea Island, Fiji, French Polynesia, French South Antarctic Territory, Keeling, Kiribati, Macao, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, New Zealand Antarctic Territory, Niue Island, Norfolk Island, Norwegian Antarctic Territory. Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Tokelau Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, US Samoa, Western Samoa.
World Zone 1 is defined as all countries not listed above.
Deliveries to the Rest of the World should arrived within 7-14 days of dispatch.
Deliveries to non-UK destinations may be subject to import duties and taxes. The customer is responsible for such charges and it is advisable to research them before orders are placed.
