The Magnificent Machines are the life’s work of the Victorian eccentric Lord Robert of Brockenhurst. He was a man ahead of his time (or so he thought). He spent most of his family fortune making machines and gadgets for the modern Victorian lady and gentleman. They were all rather ingenious but, unfortunately, very few of them actually worked. For example, the immense weight of the Magnifect Walking Machine caused it to sink in the mud on its first outing. This automata (moving mechanical model) of the Magnificent Walking Machine does not have this problem as it’s made from two different thicknesses of cardboard and is put together without using any glue – everything you need is in the box!
